First Pattern Red Cross Visor Cap. Fantastic example of the early First Pattern Visor. Grey wool is in excellent condition with no moth damage or tracking. Visor is piped in a lighter grey in the three positions. The leather chinstrap is present and in fine shape. The actual visor or bill portion is made of leather and not the later vulcanfiber. This leather is still very nice. The insignia on the front is an early style silver wreath and cockade. Above the wreath is the first pattern DRK Eagle perched on the red cross with the Swastika in its chest. The interior of the cap is also very nice nice. The leather sweatband is complete and still firmly attached. The lining is an off-white artificial silk that shows some soiling but is complete. The Sweat Diamond in the top is very much intact and there is a size stamp 56. Very clean example of a cap that does not come up often. NICE!!!!
